Clinical Evaluation of Tinidazole-Nystatin Vaginal Suppository in Monilial Vaginitis


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of Tinidazole-Nystatin vaginal suppository and to record any side effects.
The antifungal antibiotics, Nystatin (combined with antitrichomonacide Tinidazole} was invertigated in the treatment of monilial vaginitis and monilial vaginitis combined with trichbmonadal vaginitis in 52 patients who visited out patient clinic, Dept. of Ob. & Gyn., Seoul National University Hospital.
This antifnngal antibiotics (combined with antitrichomonacide) was administered by vaginal suppository in dose of 450 mg Tinidazole and 200, 000units Nystatin per day for 7 days.
Test of cure was performed by direct wet-smear method and. culture with Sabouraud¢¥s dextrose agar media.
The results obtained are as follows:
I) Cure rate
One cycle (for 7 days) ; 96.2%(50/52)
Two cycles (for 14 days) ; 100%
2) No side effects in all cases
3) This investigation indicates that Tinidazole-Nystatin vaginal suppository is an effective antifungal antibiotics with advantage of short duration of treatment and no side effects.
